What skowt.cc collects, why, who else handles it, how long it's kept and your rights over it.

Last updated

The short version

In brief

  • We collect what skowt.cc needs to work and stay safe: your Discord profile when you sign in, what you do on the site, and basic logs
  • We never sell your data, and nothing on skowt.cc tracks you for advertising
  • Google Analytics only uses cookies if you say yes
  • You can download your data or delete your account from settings whenever you like

Who's responsible for your data

Antifield LTD (company number 15988228, 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom) operates skowt.cc and is the controller of the personal data described here. It's registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZB857511. skowt.cc is built by dromzeh, who runs it day to day.

Questions or requests about your data: [email protected].

What we collect

When you browse

You don't need an account to browse, search or use the 3D viewer. When you do, we collect:

  • server logs: your IP address, browser and device type (the user agent), the page or request and when. Our hosting and logging providers keep these so we can fix problems and stop abuse. We don't log your cookies or sign-in tokens
  • your IP address for up to an hour, to limit how fast one connection can make requests
  • a random ID kept in your browser and sent with each request to our servers, so we can find the logs for a problem you tell us about. It isn't linked to anything else unless you sign in or send it to us
  • what you search for. Text searches are cached for a few minutes. Pictures you search with are processed in memory and thrown away, never stored
  • visit statistics from Google Analytics, if you agree to them (see cookies)

Pictures and videos you export from the 3D viewer are made in your browser, and a pose link carries the pose in the link itself, so neither is sent to us.

When you sign in with Discord

Signing in asks Discord to share your account's basic details with us: your identity and your email address. We don't ask Discord for permission to add you to servers; you join the Discord server yourself, through the invite link. We get and keep:

  • your Discord ID, username and display name
  • your avatar, banner and banner colour
  • the email address on your Discord account. We don't email you or use it for anything else
  • sign-in tokens from Discord, kept encrypted, so you stay signed in

We refresh these details when you sign in and about once a week while you use skowt.cc, so a new avatar or name shows up. We never see your messages, your friends or the list of servers you're in.

Each time you download, we check with Discord whether you're a member of the Antifield Discord server; the answer is kept for five minutes. For every signed-in session we keep the IP address and browser it started from for seven days, to keep your account secure.

What you do on skowt.cc

  • files you save, requests you vote on, comments you post and upvote, and requests you open
  • your settings, like theme and whether to show suggestive content
  • your download history: which files you downloaded and when. We keep your last 50 downloads for up to 90 days, so you can find them again on the Downloads page
  • reports you send, including the email address you give for a reply, and feedback you send, with your account attached only if you leave that box ticked

When you upload

We keep the file, its name, game, category and tags, and that you uploaded it, even if you choose to upload anonymously. If you upload, we also keep a record of the roles you've had and who changed them, and any credit line and social links you ask us to show on credits.

When you upload an image, we strip hidden metadata like camera details or the location a photo was taken, so it isn't published with the file.

What other people can see

  • on files you upload: your display name, avatar and role. A file can credit more than one person, and if we later swap your upload for the game's own copy of it, you stay credited first. Anonymous uploads show as Anonymous to everyone except Staff and the developer
  • on your uploader card: your banner, when you joined, how many of your files are live, and any social links you've given us
  • on requests and comments: your display name and your Discord username
  • in the Discord server's new-files feed: the Discord username of whoever uploaded and approved a file
  • on credits, if you're an uploader: your name, avatar, role, credit line and social links

Your email, sessions, download history, saves, reports and feedback are never shown to anyone.

How we use it

Why we use it, and on what basis

UK data protection law asks us to say what legal basis we have for each use:

  • running your account and the features you use, like saves, votes and download history: because it's needed to provide skowt.cc to you (contract)
  • keeping skowt.cc secure and free of abuse, including the Discord membership check, rate limits, logs and session records: because it's in our and our users' legitimate interests to keep the site safe and working
  • handling reports, takedown notices and complaints, and keeping records of them: to meet our legal obligations, and in our legitimate interests
  • showing uploader names and credits: in our legitimate interests in crediting people properly, and you can upload anonymously instead
  • Google Analytics: only with your consent, which you can take back any time

We don't make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and we don't build advertising profiles.

How files are made searchable

So you can search by picture and by description, files on skowt.cc are run through AI image models: one turns the image into a search vector, another writes a short caption and tags. They're given the file's preview, name, game and category, not anything about you. The work runs on GPU providers (Modal, with RunPod as a backup) or on our own hardware, and the results are stored with the file.

skowt.cc never uses your data or your uploads to train AI models, and never will.

Who we share it with

Service providers

We never sell your data. These providers handle it for us, under data processing agreements that only let them use it to provide their service:

  • Railway: hosts the site, the API, the database and our cache
  • Cloudflare: delivers the site, and stores the files and a copy of our database backups
  • Better Stack: keeps our logs and error reports
  • Google: our email (Google Workspace), which holds anything you send to our addresses, and Google Analytics, only if you agree to it
  • Modal and RunPod: run the image models described above

Emails you send us are kept for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked, and as a record of reports and complaints.

Discord is involved too, but as its own company with its own privacy policy: it handles signing in and server membership, and when you send a report or feedback, its contents are posted to a private staff channel there so we see it quickly. Two small services we run ourselves look up Discord profiles and server membership by Discord ID. Profile pictures and banners on skowt.cc load straight from Discord's servers.

If you support skowt.cc, you do it on Buy Me a Coffee's site, under its own privacy policy. Support goes to dromzeh personally, not to Antifield, so what Buy Me a Coffee shares about supporters goes to him. None of it is linked to your skowt.cc account.

When else we might share it

We'll share data with the police, regulators or a court when the law requires it, or when it's needed to protect someone from serious harm. If you send a takedown notice, we may pass your name and notice to the uploader, as the Copyright & takedowns page explains. If skowt.cc ever changed hands, your data would go with it under this policy, and we'd tell you first.

Data outside the UK

Some of our providers store or process data outside the UK, including in the United States and the EU. When they do, we rely on the protections UK law allows: an adequacy decision such as the UK-US data bridge, or the UK's standard contract terms for international transfers. Email us for details.

How long we keep it

Retention

  • your account, settings, saves, votes and comments: until you delete your account
  • sessions: seven days after you sign in
  • download history: your last 50 downloads, for up to 90 days
  • rate limits: up to an hour. Server membership checks: five minutes
  • server logs and error reports: about 30 days, then deleted by our logging provider
  • reports, takedown notices, complaints and feedback: for a reasonable period, as long as we reasonably need them to handle the matter, deal with any appeal and meet our legal obligations, then deleted
  • Google Analytics: 14 months
  • deleted files: 30 days in the bin, then gone
  • database backups: up to three months, as older backups are replaced by newer ones. Anything deleted stays in the older backups until then, and we only use them to restore the site

Your rights

What you can ask for

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the data we hold about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your data
  • stop or limit using it, or object to how we use it
  • give you your data in a form you can take elsewhere

Most of this is in settings: Your data downloads a copy of your profile, settings, saves, votes, requests and comments. For anything else, like download history or logs, email [email protected]. We'll reply within a month, and it's free.

Deleting your account

Delete under Account in settings erases your account on the spot. It takes your profile, Discord tokens, saves, votes, comments, settings, download history and sessions with it, and the requests you opened, along with the votes and comments others left on them.

Some things stay: files you uploaded (no longer credited to you), reports and feedback you sent (no longer linked to your account), staff-channel posts already made in Discord, and logs and backups until they expire. Email us if you want any of those removed too.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, tell us first at [email protected] and we'll try to put it right: we'll confirm we've got your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or, if you live in the EU, to the data protection authority where you live.

Cookies & storage

What skowt.cc stores in your browser

These are needed for skowt.cc to work, or remember choices you made, so they don't need your consent:

  • a sign-in cookie, for seven days after you sign in
  • cookies that remember your browse layout and preferences, for a year
  • a record of your cookie choice, for a year
  • your settings, selections and dismissed hints, kept in your browser's storage
  • the random ID described under when you browse

You can clear these any time with Clear cookies in settings, or in your browser. Google Analytics cookies are only set if you agree. Google's script loads on every page in a mode that sets no cookies until you do, though it still tells Google a page was viewed, without anything that identifies you. Change your mind any time with Cookie settings in the footer, or Cookies in settings.

Everything else

Children

You need to be at least 13 to make a skowt.cc account. We don't knowingly collect data from younger children; if you think a child under 13 has an account, email [email protected] and we'll delete it. skowt.cc has no ads and no advertising tracking for anyone, and profiles show only what's described above.

Keeping it safe

Everything is sent over HTTPS, and only the people who run skowt.cc can get at personal data. Staff, the people we pick by hand to review uploads and reports, see only what that work needs, like who sent an anonymous upload or what a report says. If something goes wrong that puts your data at risk, we'll tell you and the regulator when the law requires it.

Changes to this policy

When what we collect or how we use it changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and say so on the site or in the Discord server if it's a big change.
